Win some - lose some

Well this was an interesting week in the life of a restaurant real estate specialist. Talk about ups and downs! For one, I sold a restaurant. That's the up part. A cute little organic place Midtown East. Owner was a bit of a raw nut type but got the job done - after 6 months. Then the bummer. Had another almost sold when the deal collapsed at the last minute. As any broker will tell you, no roses til it closes, but still losing a deal you've worked so hard on is a blow to the solar plexus. Oh well, good news follows bad. Met this quirky restaurant owner who has this great, funky bakery/restaurant in the West Village. A classic West Villager. Living there forever in a rent-controlled apartment (grrrr). After much back and forth with her and her partner, she finally agreed to give me an exclusive on her place on Hudson Street. Hope to get someone really cool in the spot for the locals to patronize. Let you know soon! Marjorie

With a continental menu so luscious that it gets rave reviews on all the dining guides? A place so magical that you think you're in Europe? Well I found such a place for sale just 50 miles north of Manhattan. It's run by a talented chef and his wife who said it was their dream. Could it be yours?

Every day in the life of a restaurant real estate specialist is different - bringing me to places I would've never known and the opportuntiy to meet passionate, talented people I would never have met. Take the journey with me for what promises to be a truly delicious experience. Marjorie
